With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities located strategically around the globe, we produce the highest quality and widest range of rail fastening systems, from rail anchors and resilient clips to standard and high resilient direct fixation fasteners. In our more than 50-year history we have created one of the most comprehensive rail fastening portfolios in the industry.
In October 2015, Progress Rail acquired Amsted Rail’s Rail Product Solutions (RPS) division to capture best-in-class, high-performance rail fastener solutions for freight and transit rail customers. RPS was a collection of three companies (Unit Rail, Airboss and Advanced Track Products). This acquisition expanded the Progress Rail product offerings to include fundamental components for rail infrastructure, playing a crucial role in enhancing reliability, improving ride quality and minimizing track downtime. We support our customers by delivering innovative options, such as the Loadmaster and ADFF-55 direct fixation units along with our E-Style and ME Series resilient clips. And not to be overlooked for its outstanding capability to significantly reduce vibrations, impacts and ballast degradation is our ballast mat line of products for which we have been the legacy supplier in the US market since 1980.
Elastic fastener clips are forged spring steel products designed to fasten the rail to a support structure. Progress Rail provides two of the most common types of elastic fastener clips in the world: ME and e-style. Along with elastic clips, Progress Rail provides various ancillary and complimentary component dedicated for use with each type of elastic clip to create full elastic fastener systems. Elastic fastening systems provide gauge control, resists longitudinal and rotational movement of the rail, and manages track deflections and impacts to meet specific customer requirements. With a state of the art design and testing facility, Progress Rail continuously innovates new elastic fastener products to meet existing and developing customer requirements.
Rail anchors are designed and used to transmit static and dynamic longitudinal forces (resulting from thermal expansion and contraction of the rail, as well as from tractive loads) from the rail to the cross tie. Many years of testing, trials and service in all kinds of demanding applications, has made the Progress Rail anchors the proven industry standard for anchoring rail, with nearly one billion rail anchors in service to date. Rail anchors are applied to the rail base, and physically bear on the side of the cross tie to desist longitudinal movement of the rail.
We offer a variety of specialty fasteners including STW DF (both standard and high resilient), insulated fixed rail anchors, concrete inserts, insulated lag screws and more.
Since Kershaw® became part of our family in 1998, Progress Rail has been a global supplier of a comprehensive line of Maintenance-of-Way (MOW) equipment, providing machines to help maintain rail infrastructure around the world.
