Progress Rail and ENR to Explore Latest Tech

Albertville, Ala. UNITED STATES and Cairo, EGYPT – Progress Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Egyptian National Railways (ENR). The MOU includes new locomotives, as well as terms to modernize, overhaul and maintain a portion of ENR’s existing locomotive fleet, with a long-term service agreement.

ENR is the largest transportation network in the region for the movement of passengers and goods. In Egypt alone, ENR experiences an annual volume of approximately 500 million railway passengers, or 1.4 million people per day, and manages the transport of 6 million tons of goods annually.
