Electro-Motive Diesel have a new opportunity for a Locomotive Technician at our Antwerpen depot (2030). As a locomotive technician, you will be key to help us deliver the best locomotive service to our customers by maintaining the locomotive fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Electro-Motive Diesel Limited (EMDL) is a branch of Progress Rail operating in the UK and Mainland Europe responsible for maintenance on JT42CWRM (Class 66) EMD® locomotives. EMDL focuses on providing running and heavy maintenance services to leading rolling stock leasing businesses and rail operators. With main office in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent, UK, European Team operates in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, and France to support our full-service locomotive fleet with Antwerp as a main running maintenance location and Weferlingen (Sachsen-Anhalt), Germany as main heavy maintenance location.

 

What your day will look like:

·       Maintenance, repair, modification of locomotives within schedules, to a high standard of quality and safety

·       Mechanical & electrical Fault-finding, testing, auditing, quality checking activities

·       Respond to the customer’s unscheduled events in a rapid & efficient manner.

·       Take a lead role in progressing specific technical issues.

·       Complete and maintain all relative documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

·       Contribute to enhance the health and safety and continuous improvement culture on site.

·       Travel between Netherlands, Belgium and France as required with occasional travel to Germany.

No 2 days will be the same. You may work on our diesel engine (12 cylinder, 3000Hp) one day and the next day on the main generator/ air compressor, and attend a workshop in France or the Netherlands on day 3. 

 

What we would love you to bring to the role:

Strong work ethics, the ability to work to a high specification and a logical / analytical approach to problem solving and fault diagnosis are key to be successful in the role. You will also need to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills and an appetite to learn new skills and progress the company forward. A good command of written and spoken English is necessary to communicate with our multinational workforce and the management team based in the UK and US.

- An hourly salary ranging from depending on experience.

- A 38-hour working week, on day shifts, with overtime paid at 1.5 rate on week days.

- A 12-month contract to start with, followed by a permanent contract subject to satisfactory performance.
