PROGRESS RAIL SERVICES U.K. Ltd.
As the UK’s largest manufacturer of permanent way infrastructure, Progress Rail Services UK Ltd. specializes in the design and manufacture of permanent way switches and crossings and engineered products for mainline, freight, industrial and light rail customers in the UK and globally. Over 25 percent of total sales are export, and export customers include the United States, Australia, Brazil and Hong Kong.
WORLD-CLASS FOUNDRY
One of the most modern steel foundries in the U.K. With a history of high integrity steel casting manufacture for over a hundred years for products including multistage pumps, valves, power generation and general engineering castings.
EMDL EUROPE
With eight facilities located throughout the UK and Continental Europe, the EMDL team operates in both the rail and power/marine sectors, and is ready to serve our customers by providing full contract maintenance services, component rebuild, locomotive rehabilitation, modernization and repower, as well as EMD® OEM spare parts, warranty administration and technical support.
Additionally, the newly refurbished Longport maintenance facility has the capability to provide full locomotive overhauls, repowers and upgrades, as well as major component overhauls, including engines, bogies, and power assemblies, using only EMD® OEM equipment and components.
In Germany and Belgium EMDL provide full contract maintenance and heavy overall for a variety of fleet operators from three dedicated depot locations, as well as a network of third party maintenance locations. The warehouse facility in Germany supports both customers and contract maintenance team to ensure EMD® OEM spare parts are readily available to meet demand.

WAYSIDE TRAIN MONITORING SYSTEMS
We are one of the leading suppliers for Wayside Train Monitoring Systems, which includes hot box and hot wheel detection systems, wheel impact load detectors, weigh in motion systems, acoustical detection systems and many more. We have globally more than 1,900 installed systems. The location of Progress Rail Inspection & Information System is part of the European signaling group “ECM” and specialized in designing and manufacturing Wayside Train Monitoring Checkpoints.
FUES EPOS
More than 1,900 installed systems have proven they can withstand daily use to ensuring safe rail operations, no matter where they are operating in the world. The FUES EPOS works for train speeds from 3 km/hour to 500 km/hour and is compatible with all standard trains, axles and brakes.
MIRA LEVEL CROSSING PROTECTION
The new, modern MIRA system makes level crossings safe and significantly reduces the risk of accidents occurring. Thanks to our state-of-the-art technology, trucks, cars, and other critical objects both in the danger zone and the approach area are recorded and reported.
GLOBAL SIGNALING SOLUTIONS
Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, has acquired ECM S.p.A., an international provider of signal solutions and technologies devoted to the safety, control and enhancement of railway infrastructure. ECM, headquartered in Pistoia, Italy, has served the infrastructure industry as a leading provider of signal technologies for more than 50 years. As a result of the acquisition, ECM will join Progress Rail’s existing signal division. The group will continue both signal production and engineering in Pistoia.
