We are committed to supporting the long-term development of China’s railway construction. Our team has successfully worked with Chinese domestic locomotive manufacturers to transfer our leading locomotive and engine manufacturing technology and vast knowledge to ensure further success in the region. We have partnered with CRRC Dalian Co., Ltd. to build locomotives with dual-cabs, powered by 6,000-horsepower engines, which meet the most stringent requirements of the China Railway Corporation.

PT KAI SIGNS CONTRACT FOR 36 GT SERIES LOCOMOTIVES

The new EMD® locomotives will go into service for PT KAI’s South Sumatra coal haulage operations and join more than 50 other GT38AC locomotives already operating in this service since 2011. The EMD® GT38AC model was designed specifically for Southeastern Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa environments.

Spanning a relationship of nearly 60 years, Progress Rail and Indian Railways (IR) have successfully worked together to deliver rolling stock solutions to the India region. At a time when other locomotive manufacturers were unwilling to transfer modern technology to IR, our team effectively transferred state-of-the-art technology to Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) in Varanasi. This resulted in the local production of a fleet of more than 2,500 EMD diesel-electric locomotives, which are still valued today. These highly productive locomotives have an impressive availability and reliability rate and continue to operate in the region.
