Product Overview:

Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI) tag reading is mandatory for any sophisticated Asset Protection System. Progress Rail's ability to capture data via TransCore's RFID products ensures seamless integration in transit visibility, maintenance, repair yard and inventory management in the industry.

TransCore's Multiprotocol Rail Reader (MPRR) is a fully integrated, self-contained 902 MHz to 928 MHz wireless radio frequency RFID reader that is specifically designed for rail applications.

The MPRR employs advanced multiplexing techniques that improve reader performance at higher train speeds when compared to legacy products. In addition, this unique multiplexing mode provides the capability for one reader to manage up to four antennas, allowing a single reader to be used for two tracks.

The AT5118 Harsh Environment Transportation Tag is a beam-powered field disturbance device used in 915 MHz RF band applications. It is packaged in a factory sealed case, meaning this tag is ideal for mounting on rail cars, vehicle chassis, inter modal containers or in any environment requiring a weatherproof tag.

The tag can be factory programmed, as specified by the customer, or user-programmed in the field using the AP4118 Rail Tag Programmer. The tag has extended data capacity of 1088 bits, including 20 six-bit alphanumeric characters of data (120 bits) compatible with previous ATA/AAR read-only readers.

Transcore's SmartPass 4 is a series of fully integrated, self-contained 915 MHz wireless RFID readers that are specifically targeted at high performance applications in parking, security access, electronic vehicle registration (EVR) and traffic management. Each SmartPass 4 reader includes an RF module, digital signal processor (DSP), power supply, antenna, I/O interfaces and RS-232 or RS-422 serial communications interface.

The SmartPass 4 will perform the following:

  • Read and report all data held within the tag.
  • Recognise end-of-train AEI Tag Data, or the end of the train where no End of Train Signal is present
  • Assign train & vehicle types to trains/vehicles (feature shared with Wheel contact
  • Sensors)
  • Assign vehicle class to vehicles based upon the read vehicle tag

The Transcore SmartPass 4 has the benefit of:

  •  Fixed mount, integrated package with waterproof enclosure
  • Reads ATA tags
  • Allows for Bi-directional traffic
  • Half-frame, full-frame (ATA), and Weigand capability
  • Incorporate a real-time clock
  • Provides tag read buffering
  • Programmable RF output power

The SmartPass 4 complies with the Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) regulations and can operate with an annually renewed radio-determination license. The system is environmentally sealed in a tamper-proof, polycarbonate housing.

The system is self-learning linking information from the tag data which identifies the wagon and the axle distances read from each site
