Executive Vice President of Leasing and Freight Car
Beth Smith is executive vice president of leasing and freight car, with responsibility for freight car, wheels/axles/bearings/parts, recycling and leasing for Progress Rail.
Beth began her career in 1993 as a clinical director for Marshall Medical Centers, and five years later, transitioned to Tyson Foods as regional occupational manager for environmental, health and safety (EHS). In 2005, she joined Progress Rail as health services manager, was promoted to vice president of human resources and EHS in 2010, transitioned to senior vice president of corporate services and chief compliance officer in 2018, and moved to her current position in 2022.
Beth is on the board for the Caterpillar Employee Resources Group for Disabled Employees. She and her husband serve their community by working as liaisons for the Foster and Adoptive parents of Marshall County and through mentoring new foster and/or adoptive parents.
Beth holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing from Jacksonville State University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama.
She and her family reside in North Alabama.
