Promotional artwork for the new GP30 featuring the GP30 Demonstrator No. 1962. To show that the GP30 was updated and modern, Electro-Motive worked with General Motors Automotive Styling Center at the General Motors Research Laboratories in Troy MI. The stylists developed the unique "skyline casing" roof profile above the cab and long hood.

A GP30 is trucked for the first time in the Main Erecting Bay at Electro-Motive in LaGrange. The locomotive is a GP30 being built for the Reading Railroad. This locomotive would be completed in April 1962 as Reading No. 5507. In the background generators and engines can be seen waiting on the factory floor to be decked on underframes. Two naturally aspirated or "Roots blown" engines and a single turbocharged engine can be seen.
