October 4, 1962 – Production of the 25,000th locomotive – a GP30 delivered to the Louisville & Nashville.
The Electro-Motive GP30 No. 1962 Demonstrator is coupled to loaded coal hopper cars at the LaGrange plant. The GP30 was rated at 2,250 HP and featured the turbocharged 16-567D3 Diesel engine, D22 generator, and D57 traction motors.

Promotional artwork for the new GP30 featuring the GP30 Demonstrator No. 1962. To show that the GP30 was updated and modern, Electro-Motive worked with General Motors Automotive Styling Center at the General Motors Research Laboratories in Troy MI. The stylists developed the unique "skyline casing" roof profile above the cab and long hood.

1964
Two SW-8 locomotives produced for the United States Air Force are shown in LaGrange, just east of the Engineering Warehouse. These locomotives were used at Cape Canaveral to transport Titan rockets from the Integrate Transfer Launch (ITL) area to the launch pad from 1965 to 2005.

A GP30 is trucked for the first time in the Main Erecting Bay at Electro-Motive in LaGrange. The locomotive is a GP30 being built for the Reading Railroad. This locomotive would be completed in April 1962 as Reading No. 5507. In the background generators and engines can be seen waiting on the factory floor to be decked on underframes. Two naturally aspirated or "Roots blown" engines and a single turbocharged engine can be seen.
