Primary Function

To provide maintenance and planning support to Contract Maintenance and UK production. Providing first line technical support to the customer to reduce in service faults and failures. To achieve local objectives as set by the Head of UK contract maintenance. To work effectively and with a sense of urgency supporting others in the team.

Job Duties

  • Provide first-line technical support to the customer, working with the control team and drivers to reduce TDA’s. 
  • Work with the customer and the Head of UK contract maintenance to agree the four weekly. maintenance plan and any changes that occur due to service alterations. 
  • Facilitate Daily conference calls and weekly Planning Meeting. 
  • Participate in PLAN-DO-REVIEW project meetings. 
  • Input in service faults and Failures as they occur into the LTS and advise the contract maintenance manager. 
  • Manage the repeat defects, ensuring locomotives released by the contract maintenance team are fit for purpose and meet relevant safety standards. 
  • Hands on the locomotive when required, to maintain competency. 
  • Contribute positively to continuous improvement activities within the Directorate. 
  • Assist in the completion of all KPI monthly reports on the GBRf contract. 
  • On time completion of tasks. 
  • Proactive and effective support of team members in service delivery. 
  • To contribute to the quality improvement of the directorate. 
  • To build productive and effective working relationships with company staff.



  • English and Math at GCSE, or equivalent, desirable. 
  • Higher or Advanced Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Hold relevant City and Guilds, Awarding Body Consortium (ABC), EMTA Awards Ltd, SVQs, Technical Certificates or equivalent.
