Technical Assistant - QHSE

Note - This is a 12-month internship position

Project Background

Progress Rail Locomotive, PRL, has a contract with Etihad Rail for the delivery of 35 diesel electric locomotives as one part of Etihad Rail’s Stage 2 Project.   Stage 2 includes the design, development, and building of a significant railway network across the UAE.  The overall Stage 2 project includes the procurement of track, signaling, maintenance facilities, tunnels, locomotives, and wagons.  Etihad Rail has contracted with IGES for Project Controls purposes, Jacobs for coordination of all contracts and engineering, and several sub-contractors, such as PRL, to supply the various pieces of the overall railroad.  It is PRL’s responsibility to coordinate with Jacobs and to interface with other sub-contractors to ensure a smooth integration path and a successful launch of the new railroad.

For reference, the Stage 1 project involved the building of a smaller rail line that operates out of Al Mirfa, UAE.  PRL provided 7 locomotives for that project.  The locomotives operate on that rail line pulling Sulphur trains from a natural gas processing plant.
