Edward A. O'Neal, Jr.

Health & Safety Services
Ed O'Neal has provided leadership in the area of safety since joining Progress Rail Services in 1993. Since then he has held leadership positions in health & safety, environmental compliance, quality, and human resources. He is now a vice president with responsibility for Health & Safety Services.
In 1982, Ed graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Health Services Administration. In 1988, he received a M.S. in Personnel Management from Troy State University.
After receiving his commission from Marion Military Institute in 1980, he served as an Army Reserve officer until 1982. In 1982 he entered active duty with the United States Army where he served as an officer in the Medical Service Corps. He specialized in field medical services and later in Aeromedical Evacuation. Ed is a rated Army helicopter pilot and has been awarded the Senior Army Aviator badge and several decorations. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Safety Center’s Aviation Safety Officer’s Course. He left active duty in 1992 and retired from the Army Reserve in 2001.
Ed is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a Professional Member of the Society for Human Resources Management, a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality. He is an active volunteer as well as a member of the Executive Board and Executive Committee of the Greater Alabama Council, Boy Scouts of America. He is past President of United Way of Marshall County and serves on several other boards or otherwise volunteers his time for various civic and religious organizations.
