Health & Safety

Beth Smith, Vice President of Health and Safety, joined Progress Rail Services in 2005. She originally served as Manager of Health Services. In 2010, Beth was promoted to her current role, where she is responsible for both health and safety services for the company and its subsidiaries.

Beth graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Public Health. Since beginning her career, Beth has been the Managing Director of an Occupational Health clinic and also served in an Industrial Health and Safety role at Tyson Foods. There, she worked at the facility level before being promoted to the Corporate EH&S Team. While at Tyson Foods, she obtained a number of OSHA certifications, along with the American Board of Occupational Health Nurse Certification.

Throughout her career, Beth has worked with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Emergency Planning and Preparedness. She has also received recognition from the American Red Cross for community service and leadership. While being with Progress Rail Services, she has received two Excellence Awards. She and her husband are active in community service with the local Department of Human Resources serving medically challenged children.
