Derailment Services
Progress Rail Services - Recycling Division (PRS 911) specializes in derailed equipment clean up, removal of retired or out of service rail cars and over the road railcar transportation. The Recycling Division is Centrally located in the US - North Central Alabama (Albertville) and services all of the 48 contiguous states. From the Atlantic to the Rocky Mountains the crews of Progress Rail Services handle about 90% of all the derailments and retired cars in this area. We contract out some of the area in the upper mid-west and all the area west of the Rocky Mountains.
Derailments are either High-Profile or not. The High Profile derailment require an immediate response which usually means the damaged and destroyed rail cars will be loaded whole onto Semi-Tractor and Low-Bed Trailer and hauled to a Rail Car Repair Facility, repaired and put back in service or to a Dismantling Facility where the Wheel Sets and numerous other parts are removed, reconditioned to AAR Specification and sold back to the Railroads.
Derailments that are not restricting or interfering with the normal flow of highway traffic or creating some type of problem(s) for private property or industry productivity, will be dismantled where they landed. We remove all the parts that can be reconditioned and ship them to one of reconditioning shops.
