Christmas for Kids Golf Tournament
Those of us at Progress Rail Services are profoundly grateful to all who have generously supported our Christmas for Kids event over the past 16 years. Although these continue to be challenging times for all of us and the economy remains uncertain, there is one thing of which we can be sure: the needs in our communities still exist, and, in fact, are likely worse than ever.
With this in mind, Progress Rail Services plans to continue full speed ahead with our 17th annual Christmas for Kids Golf Tournament. This year’s event is scheduled for Thursday, June 24, at Silver Lakes Golf Course, on the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail near Gadsden, AL.
The proceeds from this event enable Progress Rail, in cooperation with the Marshall County Christmas Coalition and several local schools, to host an event in December for children who would normally receive nothing for Christmas, and often do not even have day-to-day necessities. The gifts distributed include winter coats, school clothes, shoes and toys. The Christmas for Kids Golf Tournament also provides a generous contribution to the Big Oak Ranch, enabling foster families to purchase gifts for children in their care. For many of these children, these gifts are the only ones they will receive at Christmas, and it's because of your generous support that we are able to help make their Christmases special.
We truly hope you will be able to join us this year as a player, hole sponsor, and/or as a donor. We're working hard to make this our best tournament ever. If you’ve joined us before, you know we've had the tournament on Saturdays in the past, and we're hoping that a weekday event will make it easier for you to join us without giving up time at home that you could be spending with your families. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 24. Lunch and awards will follow the tournament.
All contributions are tax deductible, as Christmas for Kids is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We will be glad to provide you with a written receipt of your donation upon request.
