Christmas for Kids Golf Tournament
On Saturday, June 6, we held our 16th annual Christmas for Kids charity golf tournament at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, AL. We expected participation to be down this year, as everyone has been affected by current economic conditions, but we were pleasantly surprised, in a number of different ways.
More than 140 golfers joined us this year—down from previous years but more than we expected this year. Heading into the tournament, we had raised more than half of what we raised last year, and we were encouraged by that. However, as Billy Ainsworth, our company president, shared a few words during lunch after the tournament, he thanked everyone for their participation and revealed that we had actually had a record year of contributions, thanks to an anonymous donor who pledged to match what we raised! What started out looking like a lean year ended up being our best ever!
Thank you to all of our wonderful customers, vendors and friends who helped make this such a successful event. Some of you have been part of this tournament every year since its inception in 1993. We are grateful, and we know the hundreds of children who benefit from your generosity will be thankful too!
